Located in Central Europe - bordered by France to the west, Germany to the north and Italy to the south - Swizerland is comprised primarily of the ethnic groups from those countries: Germans (65%), French (18%) and Italian (10%). This multiculturalism has meant that most Swiss speak numerous languages. Switzerland has a strong economy and have had a strong tradition of political and military neutrality.

The country's total population is approximately 7.4 million and the country is just under 16,000 square miles (41,300 sq. km).  Switzerland is a very mountainous country and the Alps are often considered synonomous with the country itself.
